Introducing a Custom Brand + Showit Website Design | Rebecca Husain Photography

When Rebecca first reached out to me, she was so excited to be starting a new business that was the fruition of a longtime passion of hers. As a mother herself, Rebecca understands just how precious the gift of photography is as a parent, a spouse, and in a home. So to be able to invite her clients into an experience that really documents her family’s memories for generations to come is such a motivating force behind her work.

I knew that together crafting a brand that spoke to that heart and invited her clients into that experience would be such a true honor.

Rebecca and I put our heads together to craft a brand that would position her as an expert and a trustworthy photographer in her area. Just because she was starting this business from the ground up didn’t mean she doesn’t have the experience or the talent to craft a truly engaging, one-of-a-kind experience for her clients. We needed her brand to do the heavy lifting for her to position her as the go-to photographer in her area so that Rebecca could sit back and enjoy the benefits of her strategic heartfelt brand at work!

When Rebecca first came to me, she shared that she was excited about starting her business but in her own words said,

“I was not very confident in my branding and how it all works. It was all so very overwhelming to figure out where to start and how to put it all together in a cohesive way so that I could attract my ideal clients.”

– Rebecca H.

We immediately began to strategize how to build a visual identity that would speak not only to Rebecca’s style and aesthetic, but also to her value for photography and the heart behind her desire to invite her clients into a truly relational experience.

The Visual Brand Elements

Through her logo design we focused on pulling in a really clean, modern aesthetic that would stand the test of time. I wanted to create a personal logo and coordinating marks with a handwritten element, and a fun clean modern sans serif to really create a versatile style that would pair beautifully with her vibrant images.

Immediately we began to strategize how to build a visual identity that would speak not only to Rebecca’s style and aesthetic, but also to her value for photography and the heart behind her desire to invite her clients into a truly relational experience.

On top of that, I wanted to pull in a color palette that would evoke a true sense of emotion and would resonate with Rebecca’s ideal clients. We went with a soothing yet welcoming palette of dark gray, a series of blues, and a pop of soft blush here and there. In addition to that, I focused on tying in a custom illustrated eucalyptus branch to further speak to the natural, welcoming, and organic aesthetic that we were building.

As a photographer based in Salt Lake City, Rebecca pulls in a huge amount of inspiration from her surroundings — whether that’s in the mountains or in the Salt Flats — she has so many amazing natural wonderings around her where she can invite her clients into a really amazing outdoor session.

So with that in mind, I wanted to create a visual identity that was warm and outdoorsy, yet spoke to Rebecca’s approach to natural light photography and her love of shooting outdoors — which became the inspiration behind the eucalyptus leaves illustration.

I partnered her gorgeous logo and her new alternate marks with a really fun, modern stationery design that will serve as such a thoughtful touchpoint for every client that Rebecca takes on. Whether she is sending a thank you note to a family that just booked or delivering prints to a couple who scheduled an anniversary session, Rebecca’s clients are sure to feel so valued and cared for when they receive one of these beautiful soft blue envelopes in the mail.

Rebecca and I knew we wanted to take advantage of the fact that her brand as a whole erred on the side of simplicity and we wanted to play that up by using a gorgeous letterpress finish to her business cards and her stationery.

For her letterpress business cards, we didn’t want to go with the traditional white stock. Instead, we wanted to speak to the color palette that I created for her so we found the perfect barely-there-blue stock that paired so wonderfully with the dark gray ink.

We echoed that feel throughout her folded stationery card as well, although in this case we opted for a beautifully textured white stock tucked inside that same barely-there-blue envelope.

And as always, if you’ve been around here for a while you know that I can’t resist a good envelope liner so we focused on taking her eucalyptus leaves and incorporating that design as a dramatic unexpected pop of detail inside her envelopes.

A CUSTOM SHOWIT 5 WEBSITE

But the fun didn’t end with her stationery design! We also spent so much meticulous time and energy crafting the most robust and interactive home for Rebecca’s brand.

Her custom Showit 5 website was such a labor of love and truly gives her work the ability to shine in all of its glory. Rebecca is in a season of business where she is so honored to serve people in many different seasons of life, from maternity sessions to family sessions to couples. And because of that we wanted every ideal client to feel seen and represented on her website. So we spent time crafting out galleries and spaces and freebies and so many great resources specifically for those clients throughout her website.

This is definitely one of the more detailed and vigorous sites I’ve had the honor of building and I’m so thrilled with how happy Rebecca is to have this beautiful website as her own.

She shared that after working together she felt confident and clear about her brand and that she’s already had so many people comment about how they’re so impressed by her website, her brand, and that they can’t wait to work with her.

And in my opinion, that is a testament to what strategic and heartfelt design can do for you.

Strategic and Heartfelt Branding

One of my favorite aspects of this site is her about page where you can learn so much more about Rebecca, her heart, family and what’s in her camera bag. Be sure to head over to her blog and explore by category, get your hands on so many amazing freebies, and see some of Rebecca’s most recent work.

Working with Rebecca was such a true honor and I never take the decision for new business owners to work with me lightly. I see so much value in giving your business the gift of a professional polished brand from day one. And I think Rebecca said it perfectly:

“It’s scary to invest in yourself and in something that looks like maybe you could DIY for a while. But having Bonnie create a custom design and branding for me helped my business go to a whole new level that would have taken me years to create by myself. Now I can more quickly attract my ideal client because I have a beautiful, cohesive website that clearly shows my brand, my heart, and what I have to offer.”

– Rebecca H.

The fact Rebecca choose to invest in herself and her dream in this way let’s me know that she is sure to experience her definition of success from here on out, and I can’t wait to follow along in her journey!
