Back at the end of May, I had the absolute pleasure of working with the darling Caroline of Caroline Joy Photography for some updated head shots. Caroline has helped document so many important moments in your lives, from our engagements to our wedding to our one year anniversary photos, she’s been our go-to gal! It only made sense to enlist her talent and creative eye for some fun and bright photos that puts a face to this blog. Since some of you may be new around these parts or perhaps we just haven’t had the pleasure of getting to know each other very well yet, I thought I’d share a few of my favorites from my portrait session and tell y’all a little bit more about the woman behind the blog.

Hello there, lovely! My name is Bonnie Joy Marie and I’m the 20-something designer behind this blog and business. A journalist by trade, I fell in love with graphic design and sharing information visually while designing the save the dates to my own wedding in 2012. After graduating college, marrying my college sweetheart and moving across the country to California, I found myself in a place where b is for bonnie design developed organically from a little side project to a full-time business endeavor.

I found my niche in the design community working with small business owners to create strong brands. Representing the core of a business through authentic and simple design really struck a chord in my heart, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the sweetest and most talented creatives you ever did see! You also may have noticed that I design my own line of foil paper products, all of which are centered around the desire to encourage and inspire. In a world that constantly stresses perfection and other unattainable goals, I think it’s so important to fill your life with messages of truth. From beautiful notebooks to hold your biggest hopes and dreams to vibrant prints to adorn the walls of your home or office, the b is for bonnie shop is truly a creative outlet born out of my passion for spreading joy.

On a more personal note, I am blessed to walk this path of entrepreneurship with my sweet husband and our golden retriever pup by my side. As an Air Force wife, we move fairly constantly and that journey has taught me so much about the important of family and friendship. I am an encourager and aside from brand design projects and my little print shop, I love being able to take the time to offer one-on-one business consults with other business owners or big dreamers seeking advice. The preciousness of community and authentic relationships are something I hold dear, and I’ll never pass up an opportunity to connect with a new colleague!
