I can hardly believe that tomorrow morning, bright and early, I’m hopping a plane to San Francisco for the Rising Tide Society Leaders Retreat! It feels like ages ago that I signed up to attend, and now this exciting, educational trip is right around the corner. While I’m in San Francisco, I’ll be spending a few days exploring how I can actionably cultivate a better spirit of community within my own TuesdaysTogether Waco group, and how I can continue to grow as a business owner! Although this trip is all business, the dress code is cozy casual. And since I know we’ll be greeted with plenty of fog, some rain and chilly temps, I’m packing my bag to the brim with layers galore!
If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that I’m a huge fan of packing light, traveling simply and making the most out of every item I take with me! You see, friend, I believe that your time in a new city should be spent fully immersed in the culture and community, not stuck in a hotel room in front of a mirror trying to figure out what to wear. So it’s important that every suitcase I pack is filled with functional items that truly bring joy and serve a purpose!
Although the amazing RTS team has let us know that the dress code is casual, I still want to be able to look presentable when meeting new industry friends and reuniting with others. With the incorporation of a few simple accessories like monochromatic jewelry and functional (but still cute!) handbags, even the simplest of ensembles is totally appropriate for a day full of meetings!
The Basics
- White tees for easy layering
- Silky blush blouse for dinner out
- Jeans in dark denim washes for versatile transitions from day to night
- Nude flats (this specific pair is my absolute favorite! So soft and versatile.)
- Tan Chelsea boots
The Layers
Since the weather will be chillier than what we’re experiencing here in Waco, I’m bringing some of my favorite layers along to stay cozy.
- Blush cardigan
- Grey textured cardigan
- Striped pullover sweater
- Textured grey pullover sweater
- Faux leather jacket in black
Accessories
I like to travel simply and leave more detailed pieces at home, so the strategic use of accessories can add personality and flair to an otherwise boring outfit. I personally enjoy traveling with pieces that all are a part of a cohesive color palette, so these specific accessories for this trip are gold, tan and light brown to complement the outfits I’m pulling together.
- My trusty Madewell crossbody tote has taken me everywhere from New York to London to Paris looking good and staying organized!
- Neutral scarf for chilly mornings (I’ll be taking this scarf in blush)
- Simple gold knot earrings
- My Giving Key necklace (in gold, of course!)
I’m so looking forward to spending a few days learning from the RTS team, exploring San Francisco in our free time, and most of all, learning how I can continue to love on the amazing members of our local TuesdaysTogether group! If you’re a Waco-area creative who’s looking for a place to build community, garner valuable (and free!) business education, and just have an all-around fun time once a month, comment below and I’ll send you the details on joining our group.
