Friends, there is nothing more magical than crafting a new business from the ground up. Every step is filled with possibility, dreams start to take shape, and every touchpoint is another way to infuse more heart, creativity, and strategy! And working with my incredibly talented client, Jamie of Blossoms and Bow Ties Weddings & Events, was no exception. Jamie is a wedding planner based in Southern Maryland specializing in heartfelt details for joyful celebrations, and she may be my long lost sister! Our shared love of our dogs, red wine, popcorn, and a good night in on the couch with our respective husbands just means that if we were lucky enough to live next door we’d be the best of friends/neighbors.
Jamie reached out in 2016 about working together to craft an identity and intentional strategy for her new wedding planning business. Named after her darling Boston Terrier Blossom, Jamie’s business is truly built around the kinds of personal, meaningful details that she strives to weave throughout her own clients’ weddings. While we’re at it, you have to check out the darling photos of her and her sweet pups on her website here!
In her own words, Jamie said, “Before I started working with [Bonnie], I had an idea of what I wanted my business to be and feel, and a concept for how I wanted to the visuals to look. But I wasn’t sure how to get there, or how to pull it all together and make those ideas concrete and tangible. She really helped me hone in not only the visual aspect of everything, but really got me to think through important things like my ideal client, what differentiates my business from others in the field. And I feel confident that I have materials that I can continue to keep up, and leverage to drive my business forward!”
Together, we married her love of eucalyptus (fun fact: this branding project solidified my ability to spell “eucalyptus” correctly after many horrible misspellings!), blush pink, and feminine details to design a romantic, approachable logo that translates seamlessly across her print and online presences. I designed a coordinating sub mark that highlights her business’s initials through a flowing calligraphy typeface, and it’s one of my favorite details that we’ve woven throughout her website, her letterpress business cards, custom branded stickers, and more.
Jamie is a client after my own heart who values quality stationery and thoughtful print materials as she guides her clients through a cohesive client experience, so we invested in creating business cards that were made for letterpress, stationery that is worthy of a handwritten note, and whimsical envelope liners that include a repeating watercolor eucalyptus pattern. On top of that, we knew we wanted to design an educational bridal guide for Jamie to use during new client meetings. Together, we designed a 14+ page bridal guide that walks potential clients through the heart behind her work, her process, her offerings, and the varying levels of investment. It’s a tangible touchpoint that helps Jamie inspire connection with her brides as she guides them through each option, flipping through gorgeous images of her past work along the way!
When we started designing Jamie’s custom Showit 5 website, we focused on tying in unexpected details through custom icons, like a sweet little Boston Terrier silhouette that I just love. And those sweet little touches paid off almost instantly after her official launch! “Within one week, I received three inquiries, received tons of great feedback, and was contacted by vendors in my field wanting to connect and work together,” Jamie shared.
But I could keep going on all day about how wonderful it was to work with Jamie, all the sweet details we incorporated throughout her full branding project, and how much I love every little thing about it. So be sure to head over to the lovely Blossoms and Bow Ties website to see the full brand identity in action. Plus, you can read all about Jamie’s experience working together on her blog here!
