Friends, I am so excited to be able to share with you the latest brand reveal for my incredible custom branding clients, Michaela and Tim of Michaela Joy Photography!

From a gorgeous stationery suite featuring their mid-century modern inspired logo to a robust custom Showit 5 website, this is one brand you won’t want to miss!

Before the world turned upside down thanks to COVID, Michaela and Tim launched their beautiful new brand and website in March. As fine art film photographers based in the San Francisco Bay Area, this talented husband and wife duo wanted to craft an elevated visual identity that reflected their relational approach to their work. 

From a mid-century modern inspired typeface to a deeply inviting color palette to travel based illustration, we really put our heads together to create an engaging high-end brand that captures Michaela and Tim’s stylish warm personalities. On top of that, we focused on ensuring that MJP couples feel invited into a relational experience where thoughtful details run up a-plenty! And through every thoughtful detail of this full re-brand, we left no element to chance. 

Position Your Brand as the Expert

When Michaela and Tim initially reached out about working together, they were working with a brand that did not position them as experts in their area. In fact, they initially shared they felt “…almost embarrassed [by our old brand] for the prices we wanted to charge.” And, as a result, it was time to create not only a brand new logo but a very elevated custom website that would help take the MJP brand to the next level. 

Our goals centered on captivating their ideal clients through wedding photography as well as corporate photography, reflecting the warmth and style of the MJP experience, and position the MJP brand as a fine art as fine art wedding experts based in the Bay Area and available for destinations worldwide. 

And immediately after launching their brand earlier this year, Michaela and Tim began to see instant results showing us that we nailed those goals from the start.

In their own words, “After working together, we were able to raise our rates! We now feel proud, confident, and relevant based on what we charge, and the response in inquiries [since launching our site] are flowing in!”

Michaela and Tim were dreaming of a mid-century inspired brand that resonated with their stylish couples in the Bay Area and abroad. I sourced a strong, memorable modern typeface with a mid-century flair to use as their logo font. And don’t even get me started on their color palette!

We went with a deep, polished palette featuring deep blue hues, a pop of ochre, and a hint of blush to balance out the cooler tones. The result offers a cohesive palette that comes to life thoughtfully through their website, stationery suite, and compliments their signature black and white photography style, as well!

From there, I paired their new visual identity with beautiful illustrations that depict some of their favorite national (and international!) destinations. We loved them so much that I sprinkled these illustrations throughout their custom Showit 5 website and letterpress stationery.

Brand Reveal Wins

After working together, Michaela and Tim were able to raise their rates, connect with their ideal clients, and position themselves as experts in their area. On top of that, they were also able to grow their photography business by adding a custom photo booth experience to their services! I had the pleasure of working with them to create a logo for this sub-brand earlier this month, and we were able to sneak in another custom illustration here, too.
