Friends, it’s not every day that a branding projects comes your way that feels like a celebration from the very first call—and this one? It was an all-out party. Working with Tia of Geeky Mamas Studios was nothing short of a dream! Today, I’m thrilled to share a closer look at the recent brand identity and logo design project we launched earlier this year. Tia is the creative powerhouse behind Maui-based creative agency, Geeky Mamas Studios, that specializes in helping Hawai’i businesses shine through digital design, website design, digital marketing, and more. When she initially reached out to learn more about working together, she explained that it was time for a fresh season. She had a thriving business fueled with heart, purpose, and vision. But she knew it was time to reimagine how that brand was showing up in the world. Together, we built something fresh, dynamic, and totally true to the heart of the GMS brand.
Brand Strategy + Design for a New Chapter
From the beginning, Tia conveyed that her brand no longer felt like her. She shared that it was not only holding her back from being perceived in her industry the way she wanted, but it also felt like it no longer reflected who she was as the creative behind the business. She was seeking a new perspective—one rooted in clarity, honesty, and curiosity. As a fellow designer, she knew how challenging it can be to look at your visuals with complete objectivity and identify what needs to change. She shared that…
“It was time for something new. I needed and wanted a fresh take on my brand from someone who didn’t know me. It was important that I got a new POV and to be able to see where I am with explaining, sharing and relaying my message/brand/business to a ‘stranger.’”
Through our initial brand strategy work, we dug deep into the heart of the Geeky Mamas Studio brand to map out her values, differentiators, ideal client profile, and more. During our strategy calls, we not only clarified the messaging we wanted to convey throughout the new GMS brand, but we also identified key themes to help Tia clearly communicate who she is, what she does, and how she helps Hawai’i-based businesses with ease. Around the time she launched her rebrand, Tia was growing her team and I know these new brand guidelines were so helpful in onboarding each new team member!
Building the Brand: Bold, Joyful, and Totally GMS
If you’ve ever had the delight of chatting with Tia then you know what I’m about to say is the truth! Geeky Mamas Studios is a vibrant mix of sass, smarts, and soul. Naturally, the GMS brand identity needed to reflect all of that while maintaining a level of professionalism and polish. So, I got to work on crafting a complete visual identity to do just that. As part of this custom project, I focused on:
- Color Palette Curation – We crafted a warm, expressive color story filled with juicy corals, punchy pinks, and rich oranges that speak to joy, celebration, and connection. Inspired by fashion, florals, and tropical vibrance, this palette is high-impact and highly personal.
- Typeface Pairing – We paired bold, elevated-yet-playful typography with friendly, approachable supporting fonts to balance strength and warmth. It’s modern, confident, and polished without feeling out of touch.
- Custom Logo Design – Tia’s new logo suite is flexible, distinct, and full of personality. With a hand-crafted mark that nods to her creative roots and visionary spirit, the logos give Geeky Mamas Studios a cohesive look across every touchpoint.
- Custom Pattern Design – One of my favorite parts of this project was creating a bespoke brand pattern inspired by lava flows, coral, and vibrant waves of energy.
With all of these pieces in place, Tia now has a cohesive, custom visual identity that makes it easy to show up online as the expert she is.

It’s not just about the visuals—it’s about the process. Tia brought vulnerability, vision, and full creative energy to our work together. And in her words:
