Hey there, lovelies! Although I’m technically still out of the office, I just had to pop back in to share a truly wonderful organization with y’all. Humble Hilo is a small business with an incredible heart for the women and families of Guatemala, using time-honored weaving practices and textiles to create one-of-a-kind bags and apparel. It’s such a joy to be featuring their life-changing work here on the blog!
What makes Humble Hilo so unique is the way they interact with their artisans. Their beautiful, exotic line of upcycled products are all handmade by talented women in Guatemala using traditional weaving patterns and techniques. Lauren and Erica, the two big hearted boss ladies behind this initiative, focus on empowering local artisans through the areas of micro-finance, education and nutrition, allowing the customer to have a say in where a portion of their purchase will go. Did I mention that no two products in their shop are exactly alike? As each piece is made by hand, you have the opportunity to get your changes on an incredible variety of purses, weekenders, clothes and shoes that are just as unique as you are – all while giving back to the talented craftswomen who created it for you!
As some of you may know, I have quite a few speaking engagements coming up this year that will have me on the road a bit. All that time in airports means portable and practical luggage is a must, and I know this large bag will be the perfect carryon! With neutral leather detailing, such a warm woven pattern and inner and outer pockets, I am super looking forward to taking this beauty on the road!
What features do you look for in your perfect carryon? I’m a big fan of the top handles + crossbody strap for easy toting! I’ve heard this size from Humble Hilo makes for a great diaper bag and their extra large size is perfect for weekend trips, for all who gals who plan on lugging your goodies around in style this winter!
Do you know of a shop or product line that would be perfect for the #bisforbonnieloves series? Get in touch, new friend! We’d love to hear from you.

That bag is so gorgeous! I love that there’s a story and wonderful organization behind it. Thank you for sharing, definitely going to check out their site! 🙂
Hi! Is the bag you have in the picture a medium or a large?
Thanks!
Hi there! I have a large bag, for reference.
