Can I tell you a secret, friend? I used to wear pink all the time as a little girl. It was my favorite color! My poor momma probably instantly regretted her decision to let me dress myself, but once I started there was no going back. Until someone told me that little redheads can’t wear pink. Some nonsense about how it clashes with our hair color or something like that. And that offhand remark rocked my pink little world, so much so that I bid my favorite color adieu for years! It wasn’t until my late teens that I stopped letting that person’s words have a foothold in my heart, and affect how I viewed myself. We’re all adults here, right? We can totally wear whatever color, pattern, or fabric we please! So here I am, flaunting my floor length hot pink skirt like there’s no tomorrow. Won’t you join me?
The thoughtful gals at Shabby Apple sent this skirt my way, and I knew I had to share it with y’all. Inspired by classic, vintage silhouettes and ladylike materials, the Shabby Apple line is equal parts feminine and fun! Photos truly don’t do this skirt justice. The vibrant color, delicate textures and playful pattern are even more beautiful in person!
I enjoyed pairing my Steinway Skirt with a comfy graphic tee and sassy statement necklace for a more dressed down approach. But thanks to the beautiful pleats, flowing silhouette and gorgeous fabric, this skirt can easily go from casual to formal in the blink of an eye. I’ve been focusing on filling my wardrobe with more versatile pieces, and although this bold hue is a far cry from my usual palette of neutrals and pastels, it’s totally worth it. And to that naysayer who told me I couldn’t wear pink? Eat your heart out!
Life is too short, friends. So wear the pink skirt, twirl around in the middle of the street and choose to laugh in the face of insecurity and self-doubt! You deserve it!
