Have you ever had one of those days (or weeks) where you’re not totally present? Your mind is always somewhere else, usually fixating on what’s next on your agenda or a big project that’s looming overhead. That was me this week. Day and night, I was living in my to-do list, visualizing what lay ahead of me and who I needed to get in touch with. Absolutely not how I want to live my life and totally unhealthy. Let me tell you friends, it is never fun falling asleep at night thinking about how to lay out a business card or logo!
And then I stumbled upon this gem of a quote by Jim Elliot. Oh y’all, my heart so needed to hear these words this week!
Life is too precious to waste time thinking about your work itinerary or drafting a grocery list in your head while hanging out with your significant other. So many precious little moments make up our lives and they can be easily missed if we’re not fully in that moment. I’ve found that my life feels so much richer and vibrant when I’m 110% invested in what’s in front of me. Conversations become so much sweeter, jokes that much funnier and sunsets so much brighter when I take the time to immerse myself in that moment.
Whatever is on your plate this weekend, take the time to be all in. Dive into your life and leave the distractions and to-do lists behind. Be encouraged today, friends!
