To my husband and I, the holidays are a time of community, celebration and gathering together for one too many sugar cookies! This will be our second Christmas season in our home, and I knew I wanted to focus my energy on creating a simple, festive focal point in our living room for holiday entertaining using a monochromatic color palette with pops of shine here and there. There’s just something about neutral hues, a marbled texture and pops of metallic that set my heart a-flutter!

Minted’s collection of home decor and stunning art created by independent artists gave me ample opportunity to find the perfect prints to serve as the backdrop that truly tied this vignette together. As soon as I came across this pair of marble prints by Melissa Selmin, I knew they were the ideal foundation to center the room around. Our gorgeous fireplace is already the natural focal point of our living room, and I wanted to strategically play to this advantage through the intentional use of art, color and texture.

Each print from Minted arrived at our doorstep quickly, expertly framed and sized to our specifications. After selecting the art itself, I couldn’t image a more effective and timely ordering experience! The soft, neutral color palette gave me the opportunity to build pops of gold, silver and copper into the mantle decor. And the soft hues of grey, deep black and calming white in the art itself paired perfectly with our cozy stockings.

I’m not one to go overboard with holiday decor, and I personally prefer to keep things simple and straightforward when it comes to decoration our home. I’d prefer for each room to be filled with our favorite people, good conversation and tasty treats! And I believe the decor, art and textiles in each room should serve as the ideal environment for that to happen. The pops of metallics I used through candles and votives added a pop of depth to the mantle decor while ultimately calling your attention to the stunning art directly behind.

As the temperatures plummet outside, I already cannot wait for nights where we gather around the fire, roasting marshmallows and sharing plenty of laughs with friends and family. With this simple yet festive mantle decor, I’m confident that our new marble print duo will be the talk of every holiday gathering!
