Making decisions can be so exhausting. Especially when your time and energy is pulled in a million directions as a creative entrepreneur. According to Psychology Today, an average adult makes 35,000 decisions each and every day. I’m exhausted just thinking about that. But the problem most of us face is confidently making our decisions, especially how to chase after our big business dreams.
Today’s show is all about how to confidently and easily make those big decisions. I’m joined by the incredible Kate Crocco, who is a mindset and confidence coach, author, and a licensed psychotherapist based in New York.
Kate’s mission is to empower women to go after their dreams by helping them break down the walls and fears that have been holding them back from greatness through lovingly challenging them to step into the best version of themselves.
Let’s dive in!
THE “LITTLE STEPS FORWARD” MINDSET
From overcoming an eating disorder to becoming a therapist. Kate went from dreaming of building her own therapy practice to taking the steps forward to actually doing it.
“At first when that little seed was planted, I doubted if I could be my own business owner,” Kate explained. “But I decided to keep walking forward and taking little steps. All of those little steps ended up turning into my business.”
Throughout achieving this dream, Kate had a lot of other business owners asking her how she did it? How did she build a successful business at such a young age? How did she work through all the mindset and limiting beliefs that come up when building a business?
That’s when she began adding consulting services to her business to help others navigate their own limiting beliefs and mindset.
“For anyone listening who is just starting their business or dreaming of something bigger inside their current business, just keep taking those little steps every day.” – Kate Crocco
START BEFORE YOU’RE READY
Going after your dreams can be intimidating. In this episode, Kate explains how building that momentum and giving yourself the permission to step into something before you feel like you’re 100% ready is so powerful.
“It really gives us so much opportunity to take those dreams from just being dreams we’re holding close to our hearts to actual reality.” – Kate Crocco
Kate explained that oftentimes we get inside our own heads because of either a fear of failure or a fear of success. We don’t think enough about how this could change our life if we actually succeed. When we think about the idea of succeeding it can scare us and hold us back from ever starting to begin with.

MINDSET EXERCISE : HOW TO CONFIDENTLY APPROACH MAKING BIG DECISIONS
Oftentimes we go into big decisions making a pros and cons list, am I right? Kate explains that most likely then not, you go into that pros and cons list already sort of knowing your decisions but not fully feeling confident in it. We need to take it one step further and also address the pros and cons of both sides of that big decision.
“That is the key,” Kate said. “When we make a decision, it’s really important we walk away knowing it was the RIGHT decision.”
Here’s the mindset exercise you should walk through when facing any decision.
Take a piece of paper folded in half. Fold it in half again and you’ll have four little areas on the page. In the top left corner you’re going to write the pros of doing the “thing”. For example, let’s say you’re ready to leave your 9-5. You’ll write all of the pros of leaving your 9-5 in the top left corner. You’ll then write the cons of leaving your 9-5 in the top right corner.
Now, below that in the bottom left corner you’ll write down all the pros of NOT leaving your 9-5. So keeping things the exact same. And in the bottom right the cons of NOT leaving your 9-5. So what would really stink if I stayed here?
When you look at the four corners it’s essentially the same question, but it’s asking it in a different way. When having four choices and seeing it from a bird’s eye view it seems to make things a lot clearer.
There are many times where you go into a decision wanting it to be one way, but after walking through this exercise you feel confident and clarity that it’s not supposed to be that way. As humans, we make decisions based off what we think others want us to do or from a scarcity mindset and not off of what we truly want.
Tune into this episode for more mindset work on knowing when to say yes or no to an opportunity, operating from a place of abundance versus scarcity, and taking time to decide.
“When you do say no to even great opportunities, it just allows space for you to say YES to the really great opportunities that come in and are 100% in alignment for you.” – Kate Crocco

Don’t forget sweet friend, we don’t have to rush through life or decisions. We get to take our time. The steadier you go through life and business the more time you give to your best yes.
Kate shared this sweet little mantra: Today is the most time you’ll ever have.
We have to live with a mindset that today’s the most time we’re going to have. We have to use our time wisely and not hold back. Just take little steps forward and get started.
