3 Warning Signs You’re Due for a Rebrand

January 21, 2020

Friend, you’re in the right place if you’ve ever wondered whether or not it’s time to rebrand your business.

Over the last eight years I’ve worked as a brand designer and strategist, I’ve been honored to partner with hundreds of entrepreneurs just like you to elevate their visuals through intentional strategy and dreamy design details that position them as the go-to expert for their ideal clients need.

From wedding planners to photographers, to boutique owners to bloggers—everyone can benefit from an intentional rebrand or brand refresh.

If you’re ready to explore the three telltale signs it’s time to rebrand your business, keep on reading, sweet friend.

Every brand is due for a rebrand at some point or another. But when do you know if your current brand is due for a rebrand? Here are the 3 telltale signs. | b is for bonnie design #brandstrategy #rebranding #rebrandingsmallbusiness

SIGN #1 : NON-IDEAL CLIENT INQUIRIES

The first sign you know it’s time to rebrand your business is if you’re getting inquiries from not so ideal clients.

Here’s the thing, if you’ve been in business for several years you have clients singing your praises for your incredible client experience. You pour so much time and intention into every project you take on. (I see that portfolio packed with gorgeous work because of it!)

But you’re somehow still generating inquiries from clients who are less than ideal. Meaning the ideal clients you dream of aren’t matching the description of your current client inquiries.

If you’re getting inquiries from people who want your services at half the price, or who are not respecting your process and your approach—that’s telling me there is a disconnect between your brand and the kind of experience and clientele you want to attract.

Intentional elevated brands will inspire the kinds of intentional and elevated ideal clients that align with your values and are after your experience.

Take my sweet friend and past branding client, Cori Cook, for example. She reached out to me a few years ago about elevating her visual identity because she was generating inquiries from wonderful couples, but who were not quite matching up with the luxury high-end floral design services that she offered.

After rebranding, Cori was able to book a high-end celebrity client less than 48 hours after launching and she later went on to book several additional celebrity clients celebrating months to the tune of $50,000.

Now, the reason why we were able to make those beautiful levels of growth happen for her is because we focused on crafting a brand that spoke to her ideal clients, but also spoke to her heart.

On top of that, we found that sweet spot between Cori’s story and her approach to the services she offered and where her ideal dreamy clients she loves working with were struggling. From there, we focused on building an elevated visual identity founded on a crystal clear strategy that would get Cori in front of those ideal clients.

STEP #2: PEOPLE DON’T TAKE YOU SERIOUS

The second sign it’s time to rebrand is that you’re not being taken seriously.

If you’ve been in business for several years and you’re getting inquiries from not so ideal clients, or you’re finding those in your community—fellow vendors, entrepreneurs, etc.—aren’t taking your business seriously. Then it might be the way you’re positioning your brand.

Maybe you’ve outgrown your current brand. Now, don’t panic. This is very common. There comes a season in every entrepreneur’s life where their level of experience has surpassed what kind of image their brand projects.

What we need to do here is to get your brand back in alignment with your level of experience and your level of service.

Over the years, I’ve worked with dozens and dozens of creative entrepreneurs in your exact shoes, friend. I’ve been able to take their brands from a bit outdated to a fresh and current visual identity that reflects their level of service and positions them as a powerful expert in their industry.

This not only commands respect from their industry colleagues and friends, but also commands the trust of their ideal clients. And that’s what impacts their bottom line in an intentional way.

STEP #3: YOU’RE MISSING DREAMY OPPORTUNITIES

The third sign you’re in need of a rebrand is if you’re missing the opportunities you’re dreaming of.

Friend, if time and time again, you find yourself getting passed up for opportunities you believe you deserve it could absolutely come down to how people are perceiving your brand.

If you’re an entrepreneur who’s dreaming of diversifying your streams of revenue by adding in educational offerings, but yet you’re not getting the kinds of speaking engagements you’re dreaming of or you’re not selling out your workshops and coaching sessions—then that tells me we need to take another look at your brand and assess how it is positioning you.

Take a look at my former sweet client, Danielle.

Danielle has years under her belt as an elevated wedding planner and designer. A few years ago she reached out about not only rebranding her wedding planning business, but also creating a space she could step into the educational industry as an expert educator. Together we crafted a brand that gave Danielle this space to grow in that way.

Later on and as she launched, we were able to introduce her signature group program where she was able to work alongside fellow wedding planners and industry professionals through her unique mentoring approach.

The thing is, she would not have been able to experience that level of growth and pivot into those new opportunities if she was still doing business with her past brand. Although that brand served her well up until that point, in terms of scaling and growing into new opportunities, there comes a time when it’s necessary to craft a new elevated identity that positions you in the best light possible.
